Processes Step by Step

Introduction

This section of the tutorial presents you with a step-by-step introduction on how to build a process-oriented simulation model with DESMO-J. To be able to follow this introduction you should already have had a look at the Prerequisites section. To keep things simple we will consider a model which can demonstrate all the necessary aspects of a DESMO-J-based model without confusing us with too many details about simulation issues or framework specifics. For the more advanced features of DESMO-J refer to the respective sections of this tutorial.

If you are more interested in applying the event-oriented modelling style, please refer to the section Events Step by Step. It uses the same model as this section, so you can easily compare the two different modelling styles.

Additional Hints

Writing a program in a certain programming language always means more than just typing the right words in the right order. Keep in mind that there is never just one way to reach your goal. Therefore, you need not adhere to every detail of the model-building process presented here. Especially when you are more familiar with the DESMO-J framework, you may come up with some new ideas and ways to solve particular problems. So feel encouraged to deviate from the way things are done in this tutorial to test your own ideas.

Don't hesitate to contact the developers team or your lecturer if you have any questions about using DESMO-J.
